Minutes of the meeting on the 5.10.98
Present : Florence Ranjard, Giuseppe Bagliesi, Vitaliano Ciulli,
Gerardo Ganis, Monica Pepe-Altarelli,
Guenther Dissertori, Dirk Duellmann
- Guenther Dissertori first gave a short status report on
the situation with Objectivity at CERN and what the plans are
regarding the migration of ALPHA++ from HPPLUS to shift.

his transparencies.
- Giuseppe Bagliesi summarized the status of the
ALPHA++ software (the analysis package) and the outcome
of a discussion he (together with Vito and Guenther) had with
J.Boucrot. There might me some changes to the design of our
basic classes due to some new understanding.
At the moment it seems best to have a general object which
resembles closely the QVEC bank in ALPHA and to keep these
two things aligned. This way the full (fortran-) power of ALPHA
can be exploited at the beginning.
- Vitaliano Ciulli showed his ideas for a design of the
lock used in ALPHA. It is based on the COMPOSITE pattern (from
the design patterns book).

his transparencies.
- Discussion:
Dirk and Guenther will check possible problems with the C++
compiler on DEC.
There has been some discussion about which scheme is better:
Implementing the LOCK as in ALPHA or going towards collections.
This has to be understood better and followed up.
Gerardo Ganis and Monica Pepe-Altarelli are interested in
joining the efforts of our group.
